Step into a world of pirates, princesses, demons and giants as Tashi tells of his amazing adventures in his old country. Based on Anna Fienberg’s ever popular book series for emerging readers, the four Imaginary performers bring alive these exciting stories featuring wild and colourful characters such as the Wicked Baron, Chintu the Giant, the Warlord, Princess Sarashina, as well as a host of others including dragons, swans, and tigers. Imaginary Theatre combine elements of storytelling, object theatre, dramatic play and physical theatre, with imaginative design, sound and lighting to create a truly magical theatre experience.

Around 50,000 children, parents, and carers Australiawide have been thrilled by these original theatre works; first developed as a QUT student theatre project in partnership with the Out of the Box Festival (2004.) The success of this inaugural production saw TASHI programmed (with repeat seasons) at the Brisbane Powerhouse and at South Korea’s Seoul International Picture Book Festival in 2005. In 2006 Imaginary Theatre was founded and the work continued on to be produced professionally across the country; hitting the 2006 Out of the Box Festival, claiming eight Powerkidz seasons at Brisbane Powerhouse (2006-2009), featuring at Brisbane Festival in 2006 and 2009 and the 2009 Sydney Childrens Festival at Carriageworks, then continuing on to the 2010 South Coast Childrens Festival and taking out 17 regional and metropolitan venues across Australia, including Darwin Entertainment Centre, Merrigong Theatre Company IPAC and Parramatta Riverside Theatre in 2010.

Duration: TASHI runs for 70 minutes (no interval.) The show is made up of two stories, both are 25 minutes in duration (note: both stories are included in the ticket price.)
