Imaginary Theatre is a professional Queensland arts-based organisation creating performances, workshops and arts experiences for children and young people. Based in Brisbane, Imaginary Theatre’s aim is to develop exciting world-class art that stimulates children’s imagination and creativity, promotes multiple literacies, and celebrates our rich cultural diversity. Since being founded in 2006, Imaginary has presented its performance work to over 15,000 children, parents and carers.
In 2010, Imaginary Theatre will embark on a ten week national tour of Tashi, supported by Playing Australia.
At present the company’s work is focused on the development of innovative theatrical adaptations of the Tashi stories for children by Australian author Anna Fienberg. 2009 will see Tashi embark on its first national tour to Merrigong Theatre Company in Wollongong and the Sydney Children’s Festival at Carriageworks. Further national touring is planned for 2010. Imaginary Theatre are currently researching and developing a new project for under four year olds, The Play Project. |
