MAPS for Artists - Managing and producing services

MAPS for Artists is a managing and producing partnership between Brisbane Powerhouse and Metro Arts – Queensland’s two primary supporters of independent practice. The service provides a unique support structure for creators of new performance work.

MAPS for Artists works with six of the state’s most dynamic independent dance and theatre artists and companies to equip them to more successfully compete in wider touring, festival and venue networks in Australia and abroad, and to support them in creating new work of an international artistic standard.

Brisbane Powerhouse and Metro Arts support this service by leveraging their respective venues and artistic, management, marketing, financial and operational experience.

MAPS for Artists is a three-year pilot to create an alternative support structure for creators of new performance work. This servce is funded in Queensland as a joint venture between the theatre and dance boards of the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts Queensland.

MAPS for Artists is led by Manager, Katherine Hoepper, and is overseen by a management team consisting of key staff from Brisbane Powerhouse and Metro Arts. Katherine provides each artist and company with general management support to strengthen their work and operations.

Metro Arts has built its reputation on providing an environment and structure of professional development support where artists at all stages of their careers feel comfortable to experiment, develop and test new work.

Brisbane Powerhouse is the city’s leading presenter of quality national and international performing arts productions and complements its artistic program with new works by the best of Brisbane’s independent artists.
